So tonight I was at Capitol theater to enjoy "Wicked" the musical. It was great! Pretty much front row seats. No long introduction, no shitty voice overs just smack bang into it. I liked it!
The story of Wicked starts of pretty much in the middle of "The wizard of OZ". In the first half of the play it explains to us why the "witch" was the way she was. I won't go into detail about that, for those who have not seen it but in the second half of the play it continues off to where the original story left off (Not exactly right but I can't think straight right now). In the end it was a great take on the prequel/sequel of the original production. Loved the characters, loved the story, loved the music!
The stage props were amazing, wide use of the stage, so many moving objects buzzing back and fourth throughout the play. Oh and I won't forget about the costumes, so extravagant and such a wide range too. It's so obvious a lot of work was put into this play and it has more that payed off. So many illusions used the play too i was amazed and at times fooled! One specific mention is the final scene of the first half, just when () takes on the role of the witch of the west. Rising up from the smoke, bright lights glowing behind her accompanied with the fantastic orchestral music, one word... Epic.
Went with a few friends, we all loved it. For Karen on the other hand was her second viewing, she still managed to cry in one scene. That's how good the play is!
Amazing,..
