Breakfast Buffet, Glass Brassiere, Hilton Sydney

Sitting in the middle of every table is a little hamper of sample jars of different jams and honey! Very thoughtful!

Sundried tomato with feta brushetta, marinated mushrooms with spinach bacon and smoked salmon.

The mushrooms were super scrumptious, that brushetta was also delectable and bacon was also surprisingly good considering it was most probably sitting there for quite some time. The salmon was also of the finest grade!

Poached eggs,

So I asked for some poached eggs when I was near the kitchen, expecting to handed some on my plate for asking. Instead I was asked if I would like it soft or hard, I said soft and he gave me a number, as confused as I was it occurred to me that he was going to make and order to make it fresh for me. A few minutes later they arrived at my table.

Silly me for thinking this was just like any other buffet. Any other special requests like omlettes are made to order and brought to your table.

French toast with grilled tomato salad and rice pudding musli.

French toast was very surprising, very scrumptious, it's been so long since I have had french toast but never to this calibre. The tomato salad was simple and I just couldn't get enough of that salmon. That rice pudding was just amazing, I have honestly had rice pudding like this before and it was just a delight for brekkie!

Despite it being called a breakfast buffet, it is quite different to what I'm usually experience. Coffee is made to order and brought to your table, tea is poured from bags sitting in urns, brought to you by staff of course.

Now I'm not usual a huge fan of buffets because I always get too greedy with food and load it up till it can't fit any more. Food always mixes up together in strange combinations on your plate and personally due to that, it kind of ruins the textures and flavours in certain foods.

Considering this was The Hilton Hotel in the Glass Brassiere I forcefully held back with my servings. Other than the eggs, the other two dishes were placed by me and everything worked just right.

Bel's going away (for 12 months) charm bracelet! I like the concept of these Pandora bracelets and how each charm can tell a story or represent a friend. But in real life I quite dislike it, too many people end up loading these bracelets up with way too many charms and it becomes much too busy and looses its meaning. Less is more !!

This brekkie was in celebration (sort of) for Bel's farewell. She's leaving to Beijing for the next 12 months for exchange. She's been a very dear friend of mine for a long time and I'm quite certain that I've had longer periods of absence between her for more than 12 months at a time. But considering the distance..........

lol no, fuck it. I'm so happy for her, she's doing what she wants and I can't find anything bad to say about it. Honestly I won't miss her but I will miss her presence.

Go have fun Bel, meet loads of new people. Become chinky, smoke as much weed as you want, don't get raped, keep your organs close to you at all times (seriously) and have loads of fun.

I hope and I know by the end of the 12 months, you will come back with more experiences than you could have imagine. I'm excited to see your transformation just as I'm excited to see your reactions to my transformation after the next 12 months.

Remember, someone who think's one way at the start of the year but still continues to the think exactly same way by the end of the year, that person has wasted a year of their life.

Last minute tickets!!

So the venue was Acer arena. And this would be my first time attending such a large scale concert. Boy it was huge!!

The mosh pit looked ok but that was because everyone was crammed up to the front worser than sardines. I'm pretty sure all hell broke loose in the mosh when Trey Songs threw his sweat towel into the mosh and then it just created an epicentre of crazy people fighter over it.

I don't think it was a full house but then again this place was massive.!

The show itself was quite amazing. It was much like watching a dance crew strut there stuff for a good solid hour! Usher of course ripped his shirt off a good handful of times.
My party of girls, sitting in the back row. Almost loosing our hearing from the crazy girls behind us screaming. It's amusing though (despite how ear piercing it was) the girls scream sounded nothing of joy and excitement, to me it sounded like a scream of a girl in despair about to get raped, whom would eventually get thrown in the gutter and raped again by another passer by. As spiteful as this sounds, I would be quite glad to know if she had lost all of her voice by now. =)

That giant mechanical rabbit is made out of 100% recycled materials. Funnily enough, I think that they actually recycled majority of last years tiger. Top effort though!!

The secret room cafe, take 2

So this is my second visit to this little place tucked away in the cbd, I'll blog about it again to make up for the terrible one i did of it before. It's called "The secret room" and it's just a place to hang out really. This cafe has about 10 different rooms, all of them with a computer for you to surf the net, facebook, youtube and anything else in between. Most rooms will have also have various consoles to play with all rigged up with a variety of games to try out!

There is about 10 rooms which isn't many really so if it gets busy they do have a cool waiting room for you to chill out in. What's cool about this place is that each and every room in this cafe has a different layout and feel to it. So it does add to the experience when you spend time with mates in such an exotic room.
There's also rooms in which it feels like a girls room.
Or a kids room.
Or something like a very posh modern room.

Also while you're watching movies off their local network or possibly catching up on the latest korean (or American) dramas, you can easily use the touch screen that's in the room to browse through the variety of drinks or snacks they have to offer and they bring it straight to your room. The only thin i have to nit pick about this place is that their menu really isn't that big and i think that if they do want to improve on something, it should be adding more stuff to their food menu.

So prices range from $5 p.p/hr for a small room, $8p.p/hr for a medium and then something else for a bigger room.

Encasa

The other day it was Maria's 21st birthday, and apparently she has a thing for Spanish foods so her best friend decided to throw a Friday night birthdaybash and it started out with dinner at Encasa in the Pitt street.

Because we were dining with such a large group (8+) we just went straight to the set menu and ordered the Tapas set. Now this was my first time having Spanish cuisine and while looking at the menu, i was thinking "What is so unique about these tapas dishes?". Turns out "Tapas" is the Spanish word for appetisers/entree, and so this tapas set menu pretty much included all the different varieties of tapas they had to offer, I was quite delighted by that idea.


Started out with just a simple garden and greek salad. I was quite delighted with the feta they used in the Greek salad, usually i find the feta much too overwhelming for the salad but here, it was just right.

You can never go wrong with garlic bread.
Simple green olives. There was also a dish of black olives too that i didn't manage to take a photo of.

Mejillones (black mussels in tomato sauce). Simmered just right and the tomato sauce had the most refreshing texture i have ever had! Funny despite how nice these were it was only me who munched down on it. I guess not everyone is a fan of seafood.

Pinchos de Pollo con Mojo (chicken fillet skewers)

Tortilla Espaňola (omelette with potato and onion). This was interesting, never have had an omelet like this before, very light and fluffy! There was also another dish similar to this with spinach, i personally found the spinach version a wee bit bland and got boring quick.

Sevillanas (prawns in spicy tomato). The spice really wasn't spicy at all, it was more just for a little bit of a kick which i believe it defiantly complimented it very well.




Pinchos Morunos (lamb fillet skewers marinated in Moroccan spices). These skewers were just a tad spicier than the prawns but definitely safe for almost everyone.

There was also the Patatas Bravas (fried potato with garlic mayonnaise and spicy tomato salsa) and the Champiňones al Ajillo (garlic mushrooms) which i didn't get a photo of but the potatoes are definitely worth a mention, just bite sized pieces of potatoes perfect to much on.
