Over exposed?
I stumbled on this on tumblr. I'm blogging about this because it is a nice photo, cute chick. But whats bothering me is that all the red and the skin tone is perfect but when it comes to the white background meeting up with the subject it just kind of .. disappears. How could you overcome this would you need to take two photos with different exposures and then photoshop it later on? I think so and i don't think i could do that. =(
I think that would be the only way to go about it for this picture. It's reminding me of a time my friend took pictures of a white r32 with black rims, he apparently had to take two shots of the same thing with different exposures... or was it possibly flash positions? I don't know..... ahh the difficulties...

New record!
650 kms in one tank! That equates to 7.2 l/100kms, A trip to Canberra and back with loads to spare! I think i could of gotten 700kms out of it if the highway kept going, but i would of fallen asleep and died.
Although this time when i filled up it actually used up 46 liters close to 47, so I was running with the light on for a long long time. Also another new record.

Last minute catch ups!
I think the best things that happen in life are spontaneous.
I get a text today for a catchup. Sure there was a bit of confusion and hassle of driving to the girls and picking them up but it was all good as we were very satisfied with out catchup dinner at "The Ranch" somewhere in Epping i believe.
Also today was the first time i got to see Viriya and Lourdes after exams had finished and also i got to see their baby Athiya who is 1 month old! It was quite strange and very heartwarming holding Athiya, i think that was possibly my first time holding a baby and it was... well. nice.
Maria playing "Kiss me - Sixpence none the richer".
Omg, I'm quite pleased with myself as Jeff taught me the first few cords to that song, I'm still patchy and horrid but I'm still proud i can play something audible, I want to learn how to play a guitar now so i can be a super spunk! lol
It was actually quite nice to be creating music out of my own will. I might actually consider learning properly now.
Alison, me and Lourdes. Lourdes is absolutely glowing and Athiya looks great and healthy!
Night shots.

New years resolution. - Project 365
Ok so I have made a decision. I have for once in my life made a new years resolution, a resolution where it's simple, it's realistic and it's achievable. I am going to be partaking this project called 'Project 365'.
Project 365 is a photo diary, 1 photo a day for a whole year. Why have i decided to take up this project and why do i get this great sense of excitement boiling inside of me? I honestly can't answer that question but since starting this blog 6, 8, 10? months ago I can honestly say i quite enjoy it. I wish i blogged more often, but I do get lazy, I run out of things to blog about and sometimes well most of the time I'm terrible with my creative writing.
My aims from this project is, well it's just another digital diary for myself i'll make it public of course. I think i'm quite excited about this is because I will learn so much, I will learn so much about photography, I will learn so much about myself and if you think about it, it's a year long photo album.
I have considered trading in the G11 for a proper entry level DSLR but upon reading other reviews, there are little things actually no, there is still a lot to learn about this camera. One thing I find quite frustrating is the grainy photos in low lighting but apparently it's best to take photos with a ISO setting no higher than 800. I don't know actually, it's just something i read.
So instead I might just by an external flash for the g11 and see how i go. I actually dislike using flashes but a friend told me i should try using a proper flash.
Now the issue is, what medium should i use for this 'project 365'. Should i stick to blogspot or get the ProFlickr account or something else?
I plan to start on Jan 1st so lets see how i'll grow up from there.

Christmas is just around the corner.
Whenever i go home after dark i try to drive past this house as much as i can.
Decked out with an ice-cream truck outside and Christmas carols playing in the background too!
But seriously, it looks likes this up close.
Merry Christmas people. Have a great one, seriously. Live out the Christmas holiday spirit that my family has never live. We be asian and don't give a shit about western culture. =)

Snaps.
These are just some photos I took with the g11. Terrible photos, it's such a let down when the photos i take actually have a shit load of noise in it. I wish that tiny lcd screen didn't lie to me.
The first two have been edited.. terribly again. Fuck it takes me ages to make a damn layer and edit to the way i want it to, but in the end it never turns out the way i imagine it to be. The first two pictures are my best attempts with CS3.
This photo took me damn ages to finish, and to me I still don't think i got it how i wanted it to be. Both with colour composition and the subject itself. I'm afraid that being a male makes it fuck hard to make any aesthetically pleasing photos and this was the best i could get. But when i look at it more, I'm sure there is something a guy can do to make it better. Because of the terrible photo there was a bit of noise in the photo and using the 'lassoo' tool took a damn long time and it was frustrating too. For this last photo, I can't decide if I actually like it or not. It hasn't been edited at all just .. raw(I don't even know what that means). First impressions was.. "Cool!" but now the more I look at it, it's just... meh.
Maybe I should just stick to the automatic setting. lol

Tumblr finds.
"I am a guy, and I am very jealous of girls. Because, girls can hug, kiss and cuddle with each other without fear of being called as gay or lesbians. Girls share stories better with other girlfriends compared to guys who would rarely give a fuck of each others problems. Girls can gossip around and look cute and beautiful, rather than being dull, like most trying-to-look-macho guys. But then, I remembered that females get heartbroken real easily, fragile, weak, works a lot at home, get pregnant, get period pains and lots more problems than most men. And that’s the reason why boys exist. We exist to protect you girls out there, and its a shame that its hard to find a good guy nowadays. And I’m proud being a guy. Someday I’ll treat my wife better than a queen."

Bondi beach.
It was great weather to go to the beach yesterday. Great opportunity to play with my new toy too!Panoramic shots are relatively easy. Just need to work on the colour composition of the photos.
The colour accent function is great but it is flawed. It may look good on the tiny lcd screen but there is alot hidden. The skin colour isn't the best colour to focus on, everyone's skin colour is different and the shades of 'nude' vary all over the body so it's not the best.
It's best to focus on 'flat monotone' colours like clothing, buildings or even the sky blue. Even then the function is flawed because when there is curves, lines, bumps and creases that creates shade and then the colour shade differs throughout the subject.

The Cannon G12
Just some of the pictures i have taken with the G12. Photos from the G11 will come later, the camera has a lot of potential. I'm yet to find it.
These first three are my faves so far.
This was taken with the 'Minature' effect. "Blurs the top and the bottom for a miniature effect"

This function is not available on the G11 i wish it was because it is such a cool function. Definitely my fav setting, although if you look carefully the transition from blur to focus is quite dramatic and you can actually see the distinct line of transition. No biggie though, easily touched up.
Now I'm feeling fly with a G11
So I splurged big time today and got myself a Cannon G11. It ain't the G12 but it's still damn worth it at the price i got it for!
Ok so the reason to why i was on the gun so fast on buying this camera was because well Susanne bought the G12 not long ago and .. OMG that thing is amazing. The features it has, the capabilities, it's wonderful!
It has so many fun automatic functions yet it manual functions too! It's like an Dslr except a lot easier to use and lighter too! I must say though the G12 does have a bit of an upper hand over the G11. While the G12 has HD video recording i personally believe the shape of the camera makes it hard to have a steady hand unless you use a tripod. Also the G12 has just a few extra automatic settings like poster, miniature, fisheye and vivid colours (the miniature is a mad feature by the way) that my G11 lacks but other than that everything is pretty much the same.

His and hers.
Thank you to Ryan, seriously omg I'm so glad you work with an appliance company and me and Alison visited you today. I wanted that thing the second i saw it.
And thank you Alison !!! You made my wishes come true with this camera. =)
So what do I have planed for my new toy, well when i was playing with the G12 earlier i took some nice pictures and so i'll post them up and tell me what you think.
Oh, the pictures taken of the cameras were off my Cannon Ixus point and shoot camera. Even with a shabby p&s camera i can still take my time taking a photo to make things just right. Damn I'm pedantic about things.

The Butterfly Circus Teaser.
BUTTERFLY CIRCUS TEASER from The Butterfly Circus on Vimeo.
This was just the trailer, please watch the full feature film.
It's amazing, it is the most captivating and inspiring thing i have posted on this blog yet. Almost brought me to tears and yet it still managed to make me smile. Real heartwarming.
New tyres!
Dropped into Tempe Tyres yesterday to get some fresh rubber. First time ever going into that place and damn it's deck out! If you haven't seen the joint it's amazing. A superb selection of spinning rims make up the shop front. The front desk resembles something of a small news room/star trek command center (lol!).
Just go check it out for yourself it's pretty cool. For a while now I've just been wanted to do a tyre rotation to get even wear but when looking at my two fronts the little tyre wear indicator was clearly showing, feck. So new tyres it is.
Clifton has been boasting about the 'Kumo ku36' for a while now saying they are cheap and grippy. Just what i need, turns out that the ku36's don't come in my size and so instead i opted for the ku31's not too sure at the major differences are, I have no knowledge in automotive parts so at 140 a tyre fitted and balanced i just did it.
First impressions, they are grippy! A bit more than my potenza's but i still managed to get it spinning but through the corners its got a hand over my potenza's but that's possibly i was running bold tyres before.
Any how I hope i don't become a hoon but it seems like it. I do have a list of things i want to add/mod like upgrading the sound system (I love my music), lowering/coilovers (It would corner so much better), slotted rotors( I did have a slight case of brake fade when i was fanging it through 'Wotton way' up at coffs) and a new exhaust system (not for sound but just to add a bit of *umph* in the car) all done in that order. But right now I don't have the money/knowledge to justify much of it.
If anyone can suggest certain speakers, springs or a particular setup for my sp23 I'm all ears! The more i know about cars the smarter the buy i can make later on. =)

Tidbits of my uni holidays so far.
There has been Indian minors nesting in my garage for a while now. I heard chirping so i decided to check it out. Took the box down and found these ugly things. This is actually their second attempt at nesting in that box, James before found it and took the eggs away, these birds are actually a pest. I don't mind though and neither does dad. It was kinda cute looking at them today.
I'll take a better picture of this cat later on hopefully.
In the spirit of Christmas.
Zaia, I actually quite enjoy their music actually. The people? meh.
Random midnight adventures.
PS. My sp23 can out run Ryan's typeR rolling from 100 to 170kms/h. =)

The secret room cafe
Last week Ryan suggested we go check out this place called "The secret room", I assumed he found out about this place through this link :
http://www.herstyle.com.au/blog/2010/6/27/secret-room-cafe
We walked walked into the foyer greeted by this. Looks like fun but first impressions reminded me of a karaoke bar.We then proceeded into this room. There was about 8 rooms all up to choose from each room being completely different and having a different warmth but this looked the coolest!
The pricing is quite simple really, most rooms is $5 pp/hr ours was $45/hr. So with 6 people it wasn't unreasonable and it did look rad!
All rooms are equipped with a big tv, fast net, wii and a wide selection of movies. Also you're also able to order a variety of drinks and snacks to when you're peckish.
In the end it was quite fun, just chilled really and played this awesome game on wii "Just dance" or something like that.
My apologies for a piece of shit recount of the place, the pictures just do justice to how rad this place actually is, nor is my blog.
You know what, check out the link in this blog, it's much better.
Travelling bird.
This is how Eva travels. He actually doesn't mind it much at all, if anything he likes it cause I'm right next to him. So it's bonding time really.
Eva's progress.
So a few entries ago i blogged about how Eva is going through puberty and is masturbating on anything it can hold on to when I'm there. Well these past few days I've been trying to dismiss this behavior with negative feedback and.... I guess it's working, right now Eva kinda hates me because he is so sexually frustrated and not getting any. So right now, I'm just giving him his medicine for the yeast infection which he actually quite likes so it's easy giving him the drops.
Hopefully this.. "I am so horny right now and so i hate you" stage will pass soon and i can start playing with Eva again. Or at lest get it out of its cage.

Bmu weekend.
Just found this from last year at the BMU weekend in Canberra
Story is...
I was paid i think 60 bucks to skull 2 liters of vodka and O.J. I did it, I felt like my stomach was going to explode from the liquid, it was painful, I got a cramp, it was painful, I just wanted to get to my couch to sleep, i couldn't and it was painful. I got close but then someone dragged me back, that was painful, I fell asleep on the toilet, that was ok but i chundered after. Thanks to Kevin ( I think) for chucking away my chunder.
Bmu weekend is coming up again this week and hopefully it wont be me this time getting hammered crawling on the floor. =)
