Being capped sucks!

So here i am, 2 days after the mont and my internet is CAPPED!! Damn it! Hate it so much, i can't facebook properly, i cant check out the forums properly, i can't even look at all the photos the guys posted up on the mont! (properly isn't the word i should be using, i think the word that fits better is "efficiently")

Times like this i almost wished i lived in a more technological advanced city. Like America...... maybe not, but those guys don't even have a cap on their internet. Also to explain the theory of having a "Capped" internet to someone who never experiences is very very difficult. They don't know how fortunate they really are, but just recently i think one american company is introducing a 200gig limit to their usage!! two hundred gigabytes !! and they are still whining.

I;m just jealouse and annoyed its only the 30th so i got one more day till i can actually view the mont photos and anything else i like to bury my eyes into.

Mont Prep!

Fuel for the mont!

We ended up getting alot of food. HOpefully it is enough and not too much. There is still more to get too!! I still have to cook the pasta for Friday and Saturday nights dinner. Sausages and sandwiches for lunch, baked beans or jam on bread for breakie, eggs as well. Got a few gels and other sugary snacks for energy. Not to mention the 30 liters of water.

I'm so glad that we have someone who is bringing a portable stove (thanks Brandon!), just makes things so easy ( for the sausages, pasta and eggs anyway). Also he will bring a chopping board and knife so we can make the sandwiches fresh on the day! how good is that!

I think we have our dietary needs down pat. Carbs for dinner, beans for breakie, sandwiches for lunch and fruit for a refreshment after each lap. High energy intake here we come!

....
On a side note i think our team order is me, Clifton, Jing and then Brandon. 1234..1234... 1234 all the way. Seeing how each lap goes we might consider our original plan or doing 2 night laps each for a longer rest but after some discussion on BMU we might just stick with 1234 through the night too.

I am Mr T !!

Just got a confirmation email from Engineers Australia. And they called me "Mr T". That's right!! I am Mr T. Hahahaha.

*Insert Mr T quotes here*

All in good humor.

Just today Tiff sms'ed me to buy her one of her textbooks from the uni bookshop "How to think straight about psychology" apparently it is a good read. Maybe I'll get to it later.

Having bought it i thought it would funny to make a small white lie about her textbook being mauled by a savage dog. My story went along the lines of... While walking back to the car with the book, some dog came at me barking, growling jumping you know the usual angry dog stuff. So in retaliation i used this book to defend myself. Just continuously wacking the crap out of it until the dog had to defend itself. It grab the book off me and tore it to shreds, leaving her brand new textbook (which she needs for a quiz tomorrow) in shreds, wet with dog slobber and falling to pieces.

She bought the joke! or lie.... However you like to see it.

When returning her textbook in a brand new mint condition i was greeted with a few laughs and maybe a backhand or two. Its funny how some people can interpret my little story and much very detailed assumptions from very little given data. She had thought that when the dog came attacking me i threw the book away to save my own petty life of mine. Then as she was recounting what she thought what actually happened many questions popped up like. Why was there such a dog at uni in the first place? Why would the dog chase the book? Why did i make my story sound like i was the chicken shiet?

F%*#K .... that F*&%k this F*** F**,F*** ?

Just recently i got a chance to meet up with a few really good friends and it has been ages since i last hung out with them and gosh, I have changed. That or maybe it is that they are the ones who changed? I can't tell. Hanging out with old friends is very nostalgic and i do enjoy it until things feel just a bit odd.

I know that sometimes i swear, sometimes a lot, sometimes not at all. But generally i do try to minimise the amount of times i do say the F word. Now that i think about the 'fuck' word, i can say i know the meaning of it but to express its definition in words is actually quite hard considering its multiple meaning in this day in age.

But to hear the word being spammed out of the mouth like no tomorrow, i felt that it was actually quite crude an unnecessary. I know, i know, in this day in age profanity is widely accepted in everyday language, even i know i use it quite frequently. But when the word is constantly said in a way where its meaning was probably ignored by the speaker , i could not help but almost take a step back. I guess now i am only just starting to understand how big of an impact that word can have on some people who might not use that word at all. Because it is actually quite rude, from its meaning to even its sound.

Could i be turning into a grumpy old man, or just someone who likes to pick holes in people.

Free subscription to the daily telegraph!

At uni today there were these guys handing out these cards, immediately i thought they are just annoying guys trying to promote some useless things sponsored by "The Daily Telegraph". At first i ignored them and block off their vocal spamming of "Free subscription to The Daily Telegraph". That was until they said it 10 times and i managed to pick up the word "free" coming from them. I was curious but still walk passed like nothing else.

Then bam! more of these guys! damn they are everywhere, but i did secretly did want to see what this free thing was.

Now i get a 40 week subscription to "The Daily Telegraph" and "The Sunday Telegraph" paid by the university. Sweet!... Although truth be told i would much rather the Sydney Morning Herald but beggars can't be choosers.

Even if i don't end up reading them, it great for my bird Eva as poop paper.

First time blogger, go easy on me.

To make up for my failed attempt of attaching pictures here are some more pictures of the mont.

Just in case you don't know what the mont is, it is a 24 hour mountain bike event/race held every year at Sparrow Hill in Canberra. The pain starts at 12pm on Saturday and 12 pm the next day, so the race runs through the whole day and night, morning and till arvo the next day. You may compete in teams of 4 men (which i am) or 5 or 6 or 8 or even solo.

I think 4 guys is a good number as it gives it a competitive rush and enough of a small break. Oh and yes you do actually get to sleep at night, only a little bit though until it is your turn.

Bring it on, the only question still remains should i stick with the trance:

Or transfer all my parts to my hardtail which currently looks like this :

hahaha, Blogging is kind of fun!

The mont, 24 hours of pain, that is good!

The mont is coming!! Soon!!

I registered for the mont sometime mid-late last year(yes you need to register that early!), and i keep getting reminder emails from them every now and then. Those who registered to the mont know what i'm talking about, first it was "4 months to go!", "3 months to go!" then it went to "4 weeks to go!" and now their latest email "22 days till go!". Ah crap!

I'm not saying I'm dreading it.... ok maybe i am. But when i first received these emails i got Amped! Pumped! Exhilarated! some type of excitment boils inside of me. But they are not the only emotions that are going through me... This time of my teenage life (yes i still consider myself to be in my teens!) i have been kind of off bikes and cycling, i don't know exactly why or how or when and i don't like it. And so because of this i haven't been riding at much as i use to, or even at all! Although i did get a lot of very strenuous exercise from all the lion dancing i participate in the very recent Chinese New Year festivities, its not enough for the mont!!

But not to fear for i went on my first mountain bike ride in 2 whole months the other day at Loftus in the Royal National Park. Considering it was my first ride in 2 months and the mont was oh so near i decided i should ride either on or close to my limit and i did! ..... I felt like i wanted to puke at one stage and that is a very strange experience for that was my first time feeling that too. Not to mention Jing having a stack causing a nasty injury of a broken left elbow ( Get well soon mate!). That ride just woke me up to my senses.

Now at heart i am not a very competitive person but when it comes to things that i have passion in, i give it my all. I do my best plus more and never look back even if i stuff up, but this time is different, i know what my best is and i also know i cannot achieve anything close to it!

Having said that i have been on a few other "enduros" and they are the best fun ever. Nice people great atmosphere, good trails, high energy intake, extremely high energy output, below average hot foods, camp quality sleeping arrangements, the dust, the hills, rocks, rollovers, cows and not to mention the quality of sanitation in the port-o-loos...... oh gosh I can't wait!

My name is Tim.

G'day,

No one but Tim here, and that's me!

My full name is Timmy Chan and this is my blog. I'm creating this blog because i am inspired by my other fellow friends who are quite passive bloggers. It makes for a great digital diary for myself and i hope that it will be a good read for anyone else who stumbles upon this.

So here is a little about myself for myself! and others of course.

I'm currently studying Civil Engineering at UNSW, I have a great passion for healthy lifestyles. Also i own a small collection of bikes which are my pride and joy, I'm currently studying traditional Chinese martial arts and also tradition Chinese lion dancing.

I'm not very good with writing words so i hope this blog will be filled with pictures!

Hope to keep this up, i think this first entry is pathetic but i know i suck.

Cheers Tim.
